You don`t want to miss this! Date Night Review...
My husband and I decided to do a monthly date night visiting steakhouses in San Diego. In December we were at Rare Society in Solana Beach which was absolutely amazing! Probably the best dinner we had in a long time.
For January`s date night we went to Cowboy Star which is downtown. We had a cute little booth for 2! If you ever go make sure you ask for a booth because there`s a lot of tables right in the middle of the restaurant which I don`t love because I feel like I`m just randomly in the middle of a room. It`s pretty dark in the restaurant as you can see from the very dark videos.
Our server was amazing and super informative. My drink of choice is an old fashioned and they had a number of options but I chose the single barrel select old fashioned and it was probably the best old fashioned I`ve ever had. It was so smooth!
We started with Parker House rolls, a salad with hazelnut, pomegranate and pears, and also did a starter of 2 oz of Wagyu Beef strips.
I had the filet mignon and Drew had a ribeye. The nice thing is that it actually comes with mashed potatoes and a vegetable. You can still get additional sides which we didn`t do because my stomach can only handle so much lol.
We finished with chocolate chip bread pudding and Drew had banana foster`s pudding.
We thought the service was great, the vibe was good not too bougie, and the food was solid but didn`t blow our socks off. Since we`re rating it against our favorite restaurant Rare Society, which by the way I have numerous friends that have gone and agree that it`s fantastic, We give it a solid 7 out of 10. I think it would be fantastic for happy hour!
Also Drew wanted me to add on a rating of the utensils lol they were weirdly curved which did make it a little challenging to eat certain things and the Diet Coke was watery.
